Don't Let The Bastards Grind You Down
Here’s something every woman needs to hear: being yourself will never be enough for some people, and that’s not your problem to solve.
You could be smart, stunning, kind, and full of life, yet someone will still pick you apart. Not because you’ve done something wrong, but because your existence challenges their comfort. Your confidence makes them uncomfortable. That’s not a reflection of you; it’s a mirror of their own unhappiness.
You have passions, goals, and real interests. You’re creating, building, and growing. Meanwhile, others waste their energy dragging people down. That’s not strength. That’s avoidance. It’s easier to criticise someone else than to face your own unfulfilled life.
And unfortunately, it’s never been easier to do that. Social media has made it normal to hide behind a screen and attack people without ever facing them. It’s dehumanising—and yet somehow, it’s now a cultural pastime.
But not everything deserves your energy. Not everyone deserves your attention.
What does deserve it? The people who see you clearly and choose to uplift you. The ones who don’t just tolerate your quirks but celebrate them. They want to see you win. They remind you of your worth on the days you forget it yourself.
You won’t be understood by everyone. That’s not a flaw. That’s just life. One person might call you "too much", while another will say you’re the exact energy they’ve been waiting for. Both can be true, and neither should change how you show up.
And what if you haven’t found your circle yet? That doesn’t mean you’re unloveable. It just means your people are still on their way. You don’t need to chase anyone. Focus on what gives your life meaning—your hobbies, your creativity, your personal growth. When you do that, the right people find you. Real connection comes from genuineness and authenticity, not forced belonging.
Remember this: people who are focused on their own healing and purpose don’t spend time tearing others down. People who are secure in themselves don’t feel threatened by your light. They’re too busy shining their own.
So stay rooted. Stay loud or quiet. Bold, or soft. However you show up, just make sure it’s true to you.
Because being real in a world full of unrealistic standards? That’s your power.
